lol, true; my Bride and I did in fact go out for beer and pizza afterwards!

Hi aug. Yes and no. The first thing to always keep in mind is that while not particularly talented and late to the game (I only started lifting 3 years ago) I am a deadlift addict, so despite Adam Skillin's best efforts to get me to follow a reasonable program I would invariably deadlift every single session. Given the factors of my life (very little sleep, 53 years old, etc) I simply could not recover and stagnated. Being a moron, it took a few years and reading The Barbell Prescription for me to finally reset and and follow the HLM template contained therein. I'm following the squat part faithfully (heavy day is 4x5, light day 2x5 at 90% of heavy, medium day is 3x5 at 95% of heavy, adding 5 pounds every week to heavy), and i only dead now once a week on the light squat day. My programming for the deadlift day is I want to go up 5lbs a week on a heavy single and also on a set of 5 at some 50lbs below the heavy single. I'm hoping that my reasonable adherence to the HLM template for the squats will drive the deadlift gains. We'll see

No worries you are not alone. However I typically swap out the single work “moron” for “extremely slow leaner” but same gig, I feel you.
