Teach those thumbs a lesson!
Do you alternate your grip on the DLs?
If not, at some point you are going to have to switch from DOH to hook grip or alternated in my opinion. Otherwise you'll stunt your progress pretty severely. And the hook grip really isn't that bad once you get used to it. Sure, it sucks, but only for a few seconds. Better to have a new PR and no asymmetry/f***ed up back than to save those little cowards from what they have to do.
Just trying to encourage you to try it out, once you need it.
Teach those thumbs a lesson!
lol
guess i'd better start training them
I think you get used to the thumbscrews after a while!
i'm more afraid i might start liking them
haha!
Sunday 5/31/15 hvy day
SQ 45 1x5, 135 1x5, 185 1x5, 235 1x5, 265 1x3, 225 1x8
BP 65 1x10, 85 1x5, 115 1x5, 135 1x3, 115 1x10
DL 135 1x5, 185 1x5, 265 0x0, 235 2x5
265 on the SQ didn't feel too heavy on the shoulders but boy was it sluggish coming up out of the hole. Got 3 reps done and just knew nothing else was going to happen today. BP was noodly as always. On the DL 265 wouldn't budge. For shits and giggles I tried to hook on the warm up at 135, and as my thumbs exploded in pain I heard a voice in my head saying "sign zee papers old man!" so I bagged that idea for this week. Regular missionary style grip felt fine on all the weights, and I did the 2 sets at 235 because I was annoyed at not budging 265.
Good work anyways, and you'll get used to your thumbs screaming after a little while!
"Can you hear the thumbs, Clarice?"
