Seconded. Progress is the desired outcome - frequency and volume are but means to that end. I need constant reminders of this fact.

yeah, I'm finding two-ish days a week is working well for me.
for example:
Sunday 8/2/15 hvy
SQ 45 1x5, 135 1x5, 185 1x5, 235 1x5, 265 3x5 pr, 225 1x8
DL 135 1x5, 185 1x5, 225 1x5, 255 1x5, 295 0x0
skipped church and went to the gym early today because we are going to Monmouth Park this afternoon to watch American Pharaoh run in the Haskell. SQ are always a funny beast, I guess there's a reason the light weights are warmups. 185 and 235 felt heavy and leaden, but it was very satisfying to finally be able to grind out the full pr set at 265. and of course 225 felt like a feather on the back-off.
well, a feather from a huge fucking bird.
deads were fine, 255 came up very light and quick, and tried for a new pr at 295 and it wouldn't budge but I also didn't really want to push it because if I tweaked something and was hobbling around at the Pony Track later today my Bride would murder me. :)
all in all a good day
Women, huh? Nice work on the squats btw, surely you'll get that DL next time.
The big 300 is getting so close, man. That'll be awesome.
that it will!!

what a fun day at the park!
You are killing it, my friend. Geezlings like us, of (at least speaking for myself) minimal natural athletic gifts, need to remember... we lift to live well, not the other way around. So pleased with my own program once I realized that I'm not in a race to catch up to guys like Gilchrest, just making steady and consistent progress and enjoying being stronger then I've ever been.
Weds 8/5/15 med? day
SQ 45 1x5, 135 1x5, 185 1x5, 235 1x5, 245 3x5, 225 1x8
DL 135 1x5, 225 1x5, 275 1x3
OHP 65 1x10, 85 1x5
as the summer rolls along i don't see myself getting to the gym more than twice a week for the next few weeks so i wanted to try and get something good done. really really tried to get proper depth on the squats, and for the most part i think i succeeded. on the deads i could have lifted the last few reps but the grip wasn't holding so no biggie really. and i hadn't done any ohp in a while so i through a few in for shits and giggles.
and then went with my Bride and sat at the bar at the Texas Roadhouse and had many beers, so a good day.
I practically lived at Texas Roadhouse my time stationed in North Carolina...ah the good old days of $16.99 16oz sirloins.
