    it's been a week since my last gym visit, a week spent moving Daughter back to school for the last time - woohoo! So while I did get some Dorm Refrigerator Dead Lift Reps in over the weekend all the oysters I ate at the Island Creek Oyster Bar, along with the couple of drinks after work before I went to the gym today, led me to feeling rather...dodgy. All in all went well though. The work set at 235 was a bit of a struggle but that's not a surprise. For shits and giggles I threw in 1 rep at 285, which I've never done before, because I wanted to not be surprised by the weight when I try to do a full set; not sure if that's a sound strategy but wtf. OHP were touh but I did get 1 rep at 115, which is a first I think. Not the worst of workouts.
    I like heavy singles -- good progress indicators. And 285x1 is damn close to 315.

    Thurs 9/3/15 light again
    SQ 45 1x5, 135 1x5, 185 1x5, 235 3x5
    DL 135 1x5, 185 1x5, 235 1x5

    the combination of still being a tad DOMS from Tuesday and tweaking my knee on an exceptionally cramped bus ride home kept the workout light. I was able to get nice and deep on all the reps but on the final rep at 235 I felt a little pain in the left knee so figured better safe than sorry and bagged the backoff set...so I did some deadlifts instead lol.

    sounds like a plan! I'm sure he'll be able to think of a place to grab some grub afterwards too.

    was out with a friend in the city last night til too late, got home well after midnight. left knee still a little squeemish so didn't want to push the squats too much. also had too big a breakfast before going to the gym so the belt didn't agree with much of anything, especially on the DLs...
