    sad: lifting the 245 was no problem but my grip is so weak...oh well, time to order one of those spring grip thingies

    For the grip work for DLs I would suggest doing some timed holds in the rack with a thick bar if possible.

    Yep. If you can't get a thicker bar, set it up similar to rack pulls, except just below your hands when you're standing in lockout position. Then go heavier than your normal DL weights (e.g., +10-20%). Switch between double-overhand and mixed, if need be. No hook, no straps. Range of motion should be just enough to get the bar off the safeties and hold it there for 20-30 seconds, if possible. If it's much quicker than 10 seconds, drop weight.

    Haha! I had that conversation with my son almost 20 years ago when he discovered certain pages on the interwebs. I tried to explain the difference between our finding a magazine in a stash out in the woods compared to his 400 clicks in an hour, many of which had the potential to scar him for life. It was pretty rare to find something of similar caliber in that stash in the woods.
