    Nice progress!
I love the Plates and Quarters reference by Bill Anders!
Should help with my plate math issues.

That's all Phil Meggers, Cheesepuff. I just happened to stumble across it one day and it sure made things a lot easier.

One pitfall that I've found with it is, depending on the lift, sticking to just Plates and Quarters may leave you not quite prepared for your worksets. Make sure you calculate and use a 90% single rep, too. Using your latest 176lb squat worksets as an example, the warmups and workout using the Plates and Quarters scheme would be something like:

    45x5
    95x3
    135x1
    176x3x3

However, that 135x1 is at 76% of your workset. That 24% is probably too big of a jump to prepare you for your work sets. So calculate a 90% single:

    45x5
    95x3
    135x1
158x1 (or 155 or 160 to keep it simple)
    176x3x3

I learned this a couple of months ago the hard way, getting ready for my first squat work sets under the watchful eye of a SSC. A normally pretty manageable weight just about crumpled me into the safeties. In order to get through the session, we dropped to 90% and worked there, and discussion pointed out that I had made too big of a jump between that last warmup and the work set (plus a few other factors that aren't important to this discussion).

    Hopefully it works for you!

    Keep at it.

    Mr. B,

Been radio silent for a while...sorry. Lots of good thing taking place here.

    1) you absolutely needed some thing between 335 and 405...365/370 would seem to be appropriate...but you've got this in you.

    2) re cold bars: were I in your position, I'd get a heating pad and wrap the bar prior to use...but that's just me, I'm a wussy.

Thanks Boss! I will give her another go one of these days, an actual planned attempt that will be along the lines that wiser folks have indicated.

the cold bar gets really interesting in January, as does the cold concrete on my bare feet; I'll have to remember "A Christmas Story" and resist the temptation to lick the bar lol
