    Default 8/21 Deadlifts of Doom

Been a crappy week -- some work stress, early mornings which means poor sleep -- and blew off some steam last night with my wife to the tune of four beers. Woke up dreading deadlifting. Realized I was out of chalk as well. Spent the entire morning convincing myself not to go. Failed to convince myself.

    DL: 135x5x2, 185x5, 225x2, 250x1
work: 275x5, 290x3, 305x1 -- went for three @ 305 but my grip failed -- last month I ran heavy singles up to 320 but my grip was totally weak without chalk. All the same I got the prescribed volume for wave C so it wasn't a terrible workout.

SGDL: didn't feel like breaking down to 185 then building back up to 220 so I went for 225. Got 225x5, when for set two, and my grip was dying. Ordered some chalk.

Here's a mediocre SGDL for your entertainment.

Chalk do solve a lot of problems.
I got my deads going again by using straps during a whole workout, warm-ups and all. It was, at least for me, a very different experience. From that time onwards I have embraced the alternate grip during deads.
For SGDL's I just use straps.

re: SGDL video. Don't be afraid of the lockout. Yes, this requires pressing the pubic bone against the bar. No, it doesn't feel great.
That's a good call... I'd meant to buy some straps. What brand did you buy?

    1, 1.5, or 2 inches?

    Default 8/24 Bench Wave D

    Bench "Deload week": 45x10, 65x5, 85x3, 105x2, 115x1
work: 125x5x3 -- i'm starting to see how smart this 5/3/1 program is. 125x5x3 felt pretty easy.
backoffs -- supersetted with Lat Pulls and Curlz: 110x8, 80x13

    LP: 140x5x3

DB Curlz: going backwards here because I'm trying to keep them fairly strict. What's better, cheat curlz or strict ones?
25x10, 25x8, 25x12 but cheated the shit out of 10,11,12 on the last set.

    BBR: 65x5, 115x5, 150x5x5

It's good when the lifts feels solid. Solid means progress. Well done!
