    Default For the Love of The Barbell

    I started with my husband (Anthony King- he's on here somewhere) in April 2014, and this is my 16th week. I took one week off toward the beginning for illness, and recently took two weeks for a tweak in my middle back. Here's what I was doing before the tweak:

    Squat: 85x5x3
    DL: 136x3x4
    BP: 56x5x3
    Press: 41x3x5

    My first day of the LP was this:

    SQ 35x5x3
    OHP 21x5x3
    DL 57x5x3

    I started out wanting to look hot and have more energy (exercise!), but I pretty much fell right in love with these movements. I'd like to see if I can get strong (training!) but it's just so doggone fun to lift barbells. I wish I'd started it way sooner.

    BP 56x5x3
    Chin ups, with stretchy bands for help, AMRAP 8/5/5

    DLs felt easy, but the back thing freaked me out a bit so I'm easing back in.

    I tend to hyperextend my back a wee bit when I squat, so I'm using this deloading opportunity to perfect my form.

    Squats
    warm ups:
    45lbs for 5 sets of 3-5 reps, took video and went over it with my training partner

    work sets:
    65x5x3

    Press
    warm ups:
    15x5x1
    20x5x1
    25x3x1
    30x3x1

    work sets:
    37x5x3

    Executed the glute/ham raise for the first time today; I've been doing back extensions in sets of 3 for 10 reps. My GHRs were 10/10/7

    I think my back tweak came from pressing. My rebound is good, but I think I lost some tightness in my upper back and threw the weight up and did something weird to my erector spinae. I dunno, but it's slowly getting better and it doesn't hurt more when I train. I'd rather live with the tweak and lift than sit on my ass all sad about not lifting and still have a tweak.

    Ha. I'm 37, but I guess the weight I'm lifting might make a person imagine I'm 77.

    Today felt easy. Back tweak stays the same, neither worse nor better, so I'm just doing my thing and aware of it but not paying it much mind.

    Back Extension: 3 sets of 10

    Chin-ups: AMRAP 5/4/4
    With stretchy bands to assist

    Today was fun, like just about every day I lift barbells. Was too tired for GHRs, but back exts. felt great.

    Nothing I do is impressive, and I give not one fuck. It beats not doing it.
