    Today's Workout:

    Squat: 225x5,3,3
    DB Row: 110x3x8
    DL: 250x10

Frustrating that I seemed to be doomed to struggle at around 225 5RM perpetually. I'll see how things go next week, but this is really frustrating. At least Bench hasn't stalled, and honestly, although lifting heavy shit is very satisfying, I get that with my DL progression and the prospect of being able to do 2 plates (225) on bench for 5RM in 4 weeks is more exciting than Squatting.

The Mrs. gets more hot and bothered over my guns, pecks and back than my ass anyways.

    Saturday's Workout (5/28):

    Bench: 195x5,5,5,5,4
    Press: 140x4
    DB Tri's: 90x3x10
    Conc. Curls: 40x3x9

Tried to open with 155 press using a 4" power lifting belt the gym had for the first time and it didn't work, so I tried again without the belt and still couldn't do it... went to my volume Bench intending to go back to Press thinking I'd do less weight and start doing my intensity days as a single set of 5... it didn't work that way... not sure what I'm going to do going forward... I really want to run out my Bench progression since it's the only thing that hasn't stalled and I'd really like to hit that 225x5 for my birthday. Last week's intensity at 215x5 felt great.

The Mrs. was sick today so I couldn't work out at work, which is where my lifting shoes are, so today was throwback to the Chucks.

    Today's workout:

    Squats: 225x3x5
    DL: 320x1,3
    Pull Ups: 8,7,7
    Conc Curls: 40x3x6

Recordings show that several of the squats were only barely at parallel. Although I got all my reps from last week's weight, I'm repeating again Friday to get depth (also to make sure I can do it with the slightly different movement the heeled shoes make). The DL's were with the weights on 2" rubber mats and me standing on 45# plates... this gym (the only one available to me with a Squat Rack AND child care which was necessary since the Mrs was sick) is a bit odd that way. I tried to do a 1RM at 360# and failed after the 320x1, so I went back down to 320 and pulled 3 more.

I'm thinking that if I'm not able to do 230x3x5 by next Tuesday, I'm switching back to a TM style for Squats. That may make Friday's Volume Day take a little more than the hour I'm supposed to have though.

    Today's Workout:

    Bench: 220x4, 195x5
    Press: 125x5x5
    DB Tri's: 95x8,8,7

I still haven't found my micro plates, so I went up 5# on bench. I accidentally tapped the upright on the decent after the 4th rep, which might have cost me the 5th... So I did a back off set.

Edit: Grrrr, just found my micro plates under a bag of bread heels in my desk.

    Today's workout:

    Squat: 225x5,5,4
    DB Row: 110x8,5,4
    DL: 255x10

I forgot my straps today and discovered that my left handed grip is a major limiting factor for heavy rows.

    Yesterday's workout:

    Squat 230x4
    DL: 320x4
    Pull Ups: 8,8,6
    Conc Curls: 40x2x10, 35x8

    Today's workout:
    Bench: 220x4
    Press: 127.5x5x5
    DB Tri's: 100x6,6,6,10

Apparently having to jump from 215 to 220 was a bad thing... I think I'll switch to a 3x3 intensity day and 3x8 volume day for Bench going forward. *Plays with calculator* I guess I'll start with 175 for volume Sunday and see how 215 goes next week for 3x3.

There's actually a SS seminar in my area in a few months and I was seriously struggling with the decision to spend $850 on what is essentially a hobby for me.

I read this yesterday and I'm no longer struggling with the decision.

    An interesting exchange

I'm under no illusion that any action I take could affect the long established behavior of a 60yo man so I'll spend my time elsewhere on the internet.
