    6/24/2023 Saturday

    warmups
    Good Morning 45x3
    RDL 135x3

Press 72x5 94x5,5,5 should have gone up but my wacky short bar weight (22) was too much for my "plate math" clearly need a cheat sheet.

    Split Squats 5" 45# x3,3,3

When you are going strong when those around you falter... you have even more "opportunity to be useful".

Thanks BrooklynJerry, even though the other two posters were, or should have been the target of the compliment.

Rack Pull 225x1 290x3 PR for reps

    Split Squats 5" 45# x3,3,3

It is much easier to explain the failure on the halted DL's than the success on the rack pull.
Consistency would smooth these problems out.
I'm just grateful I get to lift some.

re: Haltings - I find the guidance here fascinating that, say, if you transition from 350x5 Deadlifts to Haltings, due to the decreased range of motion, you should be able to go with a higher weight (e.g., 385x8). That doesn't work if someone can't break 385 off the floor. Heck, even going to 350x8 for Haltings won't likely be successful (failing at rep 6 or 7). I suffered through this exploration early on this year and finally settled on a lower weight than my deadlift to successfully get my set of 8 Haltings.

Having said all of that, I am currently running a 90lb difference between my Rack Pulls and my Haltings. The Rack Pulls are quite tough, but manageable. The Haltings (which I have to do here in a bit) are soul-destroying by that last rep. They really are fascinating.

That doesn't explain your struggle with them on Monday, since it looks like you were running singles. But know that you are not alone with fighting through them.

    Keep at it!

Since we are told that women no longer exist, I suppose so.

Thank you all, you are better than I deserve. My goal is 3 wheels on three movements... rack pull / halted / squat. Before I turn 70 (may 2024)

    You guys are the best!

Reading: Outlive -Dr Peter Attia pg 125/420

Good read so far, reminds me of The Barbell Prescription, but not as readable as the Barbell Prescription.

5 days of 40 minutes of low intensity airdyne (while reading Outlive).

Your reading list is most interesting. I used to use Sun Zu for illustration when I taught Taoism.

    But, are you still lifting?
