Thanks for the information. You are very creative and it's fun to learn of your various exploits.

I've contacted USSF and it appears that live competitions are now few and far between. There is nothing in Chicago and Sully is not interested. It was fun while it lasted. Maybe someday we will see each other in or out of competition.

Carson: Thank you! You've got to push the envelope.

People are seldom as right as they think. The Sully's and Rippetoe's of the world are rare.
Not only are they far more right than almost anyone... they can explain it because they know why it works.
Good luck finding that on newish information.

Always let your observations (aka history) drive your path, never settle for cheap and easy abstractions.
Communism works great as an abstraction, observe those who "tried it".

Ah, you are a good philosopher.

A kind of communism worked for a while in the earliest Church in Jerusalem. Two people died because they could not keep to the rules. The only way communism or socialism works is when we are perfected in heaven. Capitalism is the best working system. In Catholic thought, there are systems that may theoretically work but I haven't seen them.

    Pull Down 95x5 140x5,5,5

    Split Squat

    24" w/17degree heal raise x 3,3,3 (10 second hold) 20# weight

wow I suck at this. Good news is... lots of upside potential.

    4/20/2023 Thursday

    warmups
    Good Morning 45x3
    RDL 135x3

Rack pull 225x1 280x3 progress and felt light

    circuit x 3
    split squat 18" w/17 degree 20# x3 with 10 sec hold
backwards sled pull 40# 260 feet (plus 5#)

My walking is decidedly better. So far every lift has felt better.
can't wait for squat day. I suspect that will have the most direct benefit.

I may do some backwards lawn mowing, where it makes sense.

I have developed neuropathy in my feet from many years of type 2 diabetes. It sometimes affects my balance, not often and not to the extent of falling down. It is progressive, sadly. I think squats and such help to delay the effects. We will see. I pretty much keep my numbers below 130 and my A1C is usually in the 6's. (6.4 was my latest number) Diabetes is nothing to mess with. I've lost a brother and a very good friend in part due to diabetes. I have another friend who can no longer walk or even stand up without help. Keep an eye on that.

Thanks Carson for your insight. Oddly enough, it seems I found SS in time to make my type 2 number much better.
My limitations appear to be related to back hip and knee tightness.
We'll know soon enough if this is true.

We've all lost important people to type 2 diabetes. So I'll be on that.

But as you know... sometimes people can't be talked out of "lifestyle" problems.

This, of course does not stop us from "offering effective advice".

Sadly, I am working on my powers of influence. They have not been up to the task to date.

YOU, my friend have been an excellent example of how to deal with this.
    I salute you.

    4/22/2023 Saturday

    warmups
    Good Morning 45x3
    RDL 135x3

Bench 45x5 90x5 95x5,5 every lift is suddenly lighter

    split squat 11" w/17 degree 20# x3 with 10 sec hold

This movement is resolving my doubts. I am moving better.

Weather permitting will mow and do some backwards. Not much
of a change for me since I pulled the mower half the time but facing the direction of movement
with one arm back on the handle. Just need to remember where everything is.

Squat 95x1 115x3,3,3 this is the best squats ever felt

    split squat 11" w/17 degree 20# x5,3,3 with 10 sec hold

Mowed lawn with a lot of backwards pulling of mower.

I know it makes no sense but it is oddly effective.
