    warmups
    Good Morning 45x3
    RDL 135x3

    Halted Dead 225x1 260x3 +5

    split squat 11" w/17 degree 20# x5,3,3 with 10 sec hold

shoulder rom 10#x5,5,5 (both sides like a backwards throw with knee supporting elbow sitting on bench)

    rain, no sled. =(

Thursday I watched the granddaughter from 3pm until 10:30pm.
    I was wiped, thru Friday.
These goofy split squats have improved my range of motion.
The sled (backwards) is also a proven deal to me.
    I'm gonna keep doing these.
The shoulders stuff is still a trial.

Been hectic. My son-in-law's mom, and the other significant child care provider for my grand daughter spent last night in ER with chest pains.
Note to self, never say chest pains in the ER, their revenue management overlords will insist on tests they can't do for days.
Most sort of wonder why that wasn't me instead of her.
    Oh... Starting Strength.

Been pulling my new sled backwards as weather and schedule allow. (aka 3x a week or so)
Made a chain handle for plates to load my split squats.
Have a reasonable set of 1" hole plates from back in the day that go down to 1 1/4 pound.
    So far so good.

So far, I'm a limited recommend on split squat and backwards sled pulling "silly bullshit".
That 260 halted dead felt about as good at the bottom as I've ever felt.
The bottom is what has long limited my dead.

Sled pulls aren't BS. They work the muscles in a different way, that allows you to do the work more frequently.

Rack Pull 225x1 285x3 perhaps the most undeserved pr for reps ever

    Split squats 11" / 5" 40#x3x3

I have a couple lengths of chain 3' or so that I thread thru 1" plates (have a bunch) and about 7" of 1.5" pvc as a handle.
I put down one of those cheap 2'x2' exercise mats on my platform so the weights and chains don't beat up my rack platform.
My consistency is obviously "lacking". But every lift is a good lift.

I feel younger. As Rip says, your feelings are not reliable... but I'll take it anyway.

No, they are not reliable. But that doesn't mean you can't celebrate and enjoy those feelings that you are having now. And accept the feeling that you're old and beat down, since it's just giving us hints.

Even at 76 I'm glad there are some things that make me "feel" good. Each step toward a PR makes me feel good. Loving my wife makes me feel good. Worshiping God makes me feel good.

Rip is correct about feelings of disappointment over not making a PR or about feeling hurt when rejected even when doing well. Still, I like feeling good when something is done well and even feeling well when we've done our best but did not reach the ultimate goal...yet.

A man was returning on a ship from years away on the mission field. He wondered if anyone would greet him upon his return. As the ship came to port he heard a large group of people cheering and a great band playing loudly, He thought for a moment that people were welcoming him home. Then he realized that President FDR was aboard a ship. He was crestfallen. Then a voice came "You aren't home...yet." Feelings aren't always right or relevant even when they are nice sometimes. But keeping honorable goals have great long-term meaning.

As a retired pastor and college professor, I have a ton of stories.

Bill Anders: Thank you for the thoughtful comment.

Carson: Familiar with that story, "back from a big game hunting trip".
Perspective and priorities may be difficult but are quite valuable.

The strong are still useful even when they are old.

    Everything is lighter. LOL.
