    Saturday 7/25/2020 + 9 days

    Press 42x5 98x5x3 +1
    Squat 45x3 95x3 155x3x3 +0
    Dead 135x3 185x3 215x3 +0

9 day gap due to vacation.
focused on volume some with the middle warmup set.
Also wore sweat pants despite it being 88 or so in garage.
    Progress is slow.

Looking at diagrams, I'd guess it is the gluteus medius. Bothers me when I walk.
Half tempted to just walk it off.
The sweat pants during the workout seemed to keep things more loose.
I may try to go up in volume like I've seen PizzaDad do.
I thought I might be able to get 5's on the squats and deads.
Seems like more blood flow might be a good idea.
I also think I should go with more sessions. Normally I've been twice a week but maybe 3 is a better plan since recovery can't be that big a factor at these low weights.

    DAS BOAT
Considering one last stab at the prop.
Rule of thumb, when you go from 3 blades to 4, you want to go down 2 in pitch.

The factory prop was 9.25x9... 3 blades
This is 9.25x7... 4 blades (aftermarket prop I just found online) $66 plus shipping

A 9.25x6.5 essentially failed. Maybe half a mile per hour improvement.

Then I'm faced with the obvious choice a jet drive Merc 40 (called a 60/40 because it is a 60 hp upper that looses 20 hp due the the jet drive).
    $6500 or so.

Or, a new / used "kicker" motor / pontoon boat motor. New ~ $2000.

Supposed to find out about our 10% layoffs in 5 days.

I did get to cruise a "new section" Wisconsin River. I avoided it in my kayak because of the distance / time commitment it represented.
Just beautiful. Saw only 2 other boats, and no houses cruising out and back for 3 hours. (5 mph max LOL). My guess is 6 miles.

One reason I like this boat is that it is similar to a pontoon boat. (6'6" beam and 17'1" long). But it tows very easy. My Sienna got 18 mph at 70 mph.
It is easy to launch from a relatively unimproved launch site. (aka floats easily).
And it is great in shallow water, would be better with a jet drive.
It is stable, but not quite a pontoon boat stable. But a decent compromise.
To be happy with a boat, it has to do what you want pretty well.

Being able to run shallow opens up a lot of water, even on popular lakes, but the rivers are often much more scenic.
I'm still in the steep part of the learning curve on these boats.

    Tuesday 7/28/2020 +3 days

Bench 45x5 95x5 145x5x3 same weight as last bench, been a while
Squat 45x3 95x3 145x4x3 4 reps this time, same weight

I have a new theory. It is the shoes. I had not been wearing my lifting shoes for some time, because I hate putting them on, and my hard rubber slippers had little give and seemed to work fine.
However, I wore them out unevenly, as is usual for me, and those and my other shoes all tended to go bad at once.
I noticed an improvement when I put on my seldom used hiking boots.

So I corrected the problem with my shoes, then wore my lifting shoes when lifting. Had a lot less pain. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

What a waste if this was the problem all along. On the other hand, this should go a lot better.
I was tired of being in pain.

I know that some very strong lifters don't wear shoes at all. However, for me, without proper lifting shoes I tend to get off balance. I haven't fallen but have come rather close.

    Saturday 7/31/2020 + 3 days

    Press 42x5 99x5x3 +1
    Squat 45x3 95x3 160x3x3 +5
    Dead 135x3 185x3 220x3 +5

Still have some pain, but pretty sure it was the shoes.
I'm very happy to make some progress and still be able to walk, LOL.
    Need some injury free time.

Carson: Only time I've come close to falling is walking away after a heavy set.

    Wednesday 8/5/2020 +4 day gap

    Press 42x5 100x5x3 +1
    Squat 45x3 95x3 165x3x3 +5
    Dead 135x3 185x3 225x3 +5

    Pain is considerably less.
    Struggled on squats.
    Deads were easy.

It is starting to feel like progress.

    8/11/2020 Tuesday +6 traveling

    Bench 45x5 95x5 147x5x3
    Squat 45x3 95x3 170x3x3 +5
    Dead 135x3 185x3 230x3 +5

Did not cover myself in glory visiting two distilleries and a bunch of wineries.
Substituted the Bench for the press since I never seem to bench often enough.
    Walking near normal... for me.
Happy I got some work in. I need it.

@Carson & Mark Hurling: You guys are the best!

Hey you want some inspiration? Come on down to my neck of the woods to nearby and scenic Chester, IL, the hometown of the creator of that motivating character, Popeye. The town has statues of him and associated sidekicks from the strip all over town. That hulk Bluto is right along IL-3 downtown. Despite all the local agriculture though, no one grows spinach.
