    12/23/2021 Thursday

    Bench 85x5 137x3 152x5,5,5

    HDL 135x3 195x1 248x1 275x3 +10 *PR*

Double overhand grip. my previous PR for reps was mixed grip.
Workset felt heavy. Feels like I'm getting a lot of grip work this way.

    Monday 12/27/2021

Press 72x5 107x5,5,5 *PR for reps*

    Rack Pull 135x3 185x1 225x1 247x1 275x3 *pr for reps*

probably 5 pound jumps on the hdl/rp's from here.
grip still feels great, double overhand
probably work in my squat session this cycle as well.

    Thursday 12/30/2021

Bench 95x 135x2 153x5,5,5 approaching pr for reps which is 154

    Squat 45x3 95x1
    planned but no attempt 135 162 180

    tweaked left knee

due to recent skipped squat workouts, it seemed prudent to not push through this one.
Considered that my knee might be ok with a HDL, but maybe I'll just go for a walk.

Probably a wise decision not to go ahead with the squat. Do you use knee wraps? I can't do heavy squats without wraps. My knees, especially my left one, creaks most of the time whenever I squat at any weight. Even at that my left knee misbehaves even with wraps. I consciously must focus on turning ever so slightly counterclockwise to force my left knee out. I think I did not concentrate enough a few weeks ago and caused the groin tear.

Walks are always helpful. I hope all is well soon. Happy New Year. For that matter Christmas does not end until January 6 so Merry Christmas.

Now that's likely the most constructive advice ever given on this site!

    Monday 1/3/2022 outside: 22F in garage:30F

Press 72x5 87x3 108x5,5,5 PR for reps *PR*

    HDL 135x3 185x1 225x1 252x1 280x0,0 275x0

first attempt at 280 came up fast more than half way, stalled and started going down.
Due to bar speed and sudden near drop, I suspected grip.
attempt 2 at 280 with straps... these will take some getting used to... only a couple of struggle bus inches
275 with straps was worse, I'm not sure the 252 would have gone up by then.

Carson: You're probably right about the knee.

Mr Bingley: This theory requires more rigorous testing. Can never be too careful!

Bill Anders: Yes this is the likely conclusion of more testing.

Yesterday I got out the snow blower and did about 5 houses worth of snow. about 4".
Felt great until I finished, then I was all sore... probably dehydrated.
Miss might be related to snow removal / snow blower transport.
Didn't feel like a grip strength issue in retrospect. Just gassed.

Rack pulls are up next. may try the straps on warmups, but go double overhand on the workset.
Just trying to get used to the straps some. We'll see how that goes.

Forgot how cold the bar gets.

Bench 95x5 139x2 154x4 sounded like someone stepped on a bag of chips, woulda been a PR intended 3 sets of 5 (5,5,5 in my grossly oversimplified notation)

    Rack Pull 135x3 185x1 225x1 252x1 280x3 *pr* double overhand grip

pain in left deltoid, so I decided to do some arcs out of Rips shoulder surgery rehab
Had I been thinking... I would have done those before the rack pulls

    72x5,5,5
    102x5,5,5

My presses use a 60 year old bar I got in grammar school which weighs 22 pounds and is full of concrete.
It is very short, barely wider than the rack, and it misses a heating duct I put my rack too close to.
I intend several such arc workouts today and tomorrow. Shoulder is already quite a bit better.
