Notes from Dan:
1) Shooting the hips up hard out of the bottom. You can see you have a slight tendency to "jolt" the shoulders into the bar as you come out of the hole. It doesn't happen every rep, but it happens often enough to get on you about it.
2) Keep the upper back tight. Pinch your shoulder blades together extremely tight and keep them pinched tightly as you come out of the hole of the bottom of the squat. You lose tightness here sometimes and pinching will help maintain it.
3) Mid foot- Staying more mid foot will happen as a result of keeping the upper back tighter and more extended. But keep in mind that you want to feel the pressure in the middle of your feet throughout each and every rep.

9/9 Kilos For Cancer 3: Strongman - Men's Novice
So Saturday was my first competition. It was small (only novice, 7 guys) and light for Strongman but after meeting the organizer it's clear he is trying to grow the sport around here so he wanted to keep it casual. I ended up taking 4th after tying 3rd... Rolling Thunder is a slow and agonizing event to lose to lol. You literally feel your place slipping away. That's not what it was about though, I had a blast, met a bunch of awesome people, and have a path forward to the sport now. That and I have the ability to say I held my own in a room full of powerlifters even though I've only been training like 6 months. I'll take it.
Just starting my LP, and we kinda started at similar numbers. I'm also a 6' guy around 225, but fluffier than you by far (31% BF) and a little older (32). I'm starting out with numbers that you were using in April. Anyway seeing you go from 150x3x5 on the squat to doing a strong man competition in about 4 months is inspiring. Fucking great job.
Can't believe i'm just now looking at your SS log instead of our google sheet....oops. What a terrible coach I am.
See what's possible with a well executed Novice LP?! Read the book. Adhere to the program to the letter. Read the book again. Join the Facebook group and learn. Schedule a training session with a SSC in your area. Read the book again. Buy Practical Programming for Strength Training (3rd edition) and read the extended Novice chapter. Read it again. Eat, Sleep, Train, and in 4 months, you too could be on the verge of a 400lb squat!
