    Hi there!

My name is Kyle and I'm a 38 year old fat dude. I decided to start lifting about a month ago after years of jerking around with p90x, kickboxing, Insanity, elipticals, donuts, video games, and 3 shoulder surgeries. I finally discovered this book and it just makes a hell of a lot of sense, so here goes.

    Starting Stats
    Age: 38
    Weight: 344
    Waist: 54"
    Hips: 56.5"

My first lifts done 4 weeks ago looked like this:
    Squat 3x5 185lb
    Press 3x5 75lb
    Deads 1x5 235lb
    Bench 3x5 115

I kind of bumbled along for two weeks with terrible form before going to see Jay at Fivex3 in Baltimore. He fixed my form and informed me that my crappy shoulder mobility means I need to high bar squat until I fix them and start low bar squatting. Jay told me to do the Paul Horn shoulder stretch and the stretch I like to call the "Kyle! stop waving that stupid broom stick around the house!" stretch.

After 2 more weeks after seeing Jay my stats are
    Weight: 328
    Waist: 51.5"
    Hips: 56.5" (damnit!!)

    Squat 3x5 230lb
    Press 3x5 110lb
    Deads 1x5 305lb
    Bench 3x5 140lb

We'll see how this progresses. I'm pretty much posting this to keep myself accountable, I've never admitted to people how big I am and this is frankly terrifying. My goal is to join the 1,000lb club before I hit 40, not sure if that's possible, but I'm going to go for it.

Today was Dr. Feigenbaum's "rest day" HIIT prescription. 30 minutes of recumbent bike HIIT conditioning. Sadly no prowler at my gym. The upside was that the bike had a built in fan, my hair blew gloriously in the wind, it was awesome to behold I'm sure.

    Workout "B" today.

    - On the advice of Coach Jay I'm doing a %70-%80 deload deadlift instead of the power snatch.

    - I wanted to do chins, but I'm not there yet. Instead I did pull downs, and not having researched the correct way to program pull downs as a chin up replacement I bravely forged ahead with 5's!

    Squat 3x5 235
    Bench 3x5 145
    Deads 1x5 255
    Pull Downs 3x5 160

    Two things about today.

-Thing 1: I know this isn't any kind of a crazy strength feat, but, 3 PLATES!!!!! WOOHOO! 5 weeks ago I would have told you that was impossible for me to ever do, amazing what a month can co.

-Thing 2: I went off the program a bit today. I'm on my way to the Jersey Shore for the weekend and I'm pretty sure that I'm legally obligated to throw in a few sets of curls on the Friday afternoon before a shore weekend, and I'm not the kind of guy to tempt legal trouble with the sworn peace officers of the State of New Jersey.

    Squat 3x5 240
    Press 3x5 110
    Deads 1x5 315!!!!!!
    Curls 2x8 70

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Today was a weird day, I got a bloody nose in the middle of my squats - stupid allergies. That kind of threw off my focus a bit and form was all over the place. Also I went up more than I meant to on my bench, but I did it...barely.

    Squat 3x5 245
    Bench 3x5 155
    Dead Lift De-load day 1x5 245
    Pull Downs 3x5 165

Brian Shaw got a bloody nose from doing a deadlift. So, you are in good company.
