Hi, I’m Sam from Great Britain. 36 yrs of age, approx 99 kilograms. And pretty tall at 6’02” but never been a good squatter.

I have trained on and off since I was 18. This is my getting back into shape LP novice program log. I don’t expect to last too long on LP before having to change to HML. I have done starting strength before several years ago and was up to a 150kg deadlift at around 80kg bodyweight, so not super strong but ok.

I have put on fat and lost muscle getting caught up with the career etc so now want to spend some time making myself feel strong, fitter, leaner and younger.

I will probably only log work sets and sessions at the moment not warm ups or nutrition, but I could if it will benefit?

    Monday 16/4/18
    Squat 50kg x 5R x 3S
    Press 40kg x 5R x 3S
    DL 70kg x 5R x 3S

    Wednesday 18/4/18
    Squat 55kg x 5R x 3S (wow doms)
    Bench 40kg x 5R x 3S
    DL 80kg x 5R x 3S

    Followed.

I started at 38 and made rapid progress by sticking to the program as written. If you can stay consistent and complete all of your sessions you’ll get good results.

Where in the UK are you?

Ps - the doms that first week was hellish but usually disappeared after the warmup sets, I don’t envy you that!

Thanks. I will give it a really good go. I have some micro weights somewhere but I can't find them at the moment. Hopefully it's a little while before I need them.

I'm in Herne Bay which is on the east Kent coast.

Hmm this is going nicely! I tend to have the work gym with its rack and weights pretty much on my own. Today it was busy and hot.

    Sq 70x5x3
    Press 45x5x3
    DL 100x5

I have been supplementing with a fair bit of protein too.

I think I might be moving into phase 2 after next week introducing the Power clean.

Deadlifts were slight slower than it should have been must have been 10kg jump! Actually that's wasn't conscious, just a failure in basic arithmetic.

The squats were again super easy no grinding and virtually (well not much) no rest between sets due to it being easy.

I managed to get a super deal in protein from a really good source at 4.5kg for £30!
