Starting a Starting Strength Log a little late.

    Robert
    Age: 25
    BW: 161
    Height: 5' 5"
    BF%: ~15%

I started lifting weights about 6 months ago, but only heard about starting strength about a month ago. I was about the same weight then as I am now (read: I was chubby). I want to start logging my lifts so that I can eventually move on to intermediate programming, which I am thinking should be relatively soon. One important reason for starting this is for feedback on when I should make the jump to intermediate.

    June 12, 2018 Lifts

SQ: 45x5 reps, 135x5 reps, 185x5 reps. Work set: 250x3x5reps
DB BP: 60x5 reps, 130x5 reps. Work set: 180x7 reps, 180x5 reps, 170x5 reps
(I've tried barbell bench many different ways, it seems to invariably hurt my shoulders. Now that I have been training dumbbells for a while I might try switching back because I may now have the prerequisite shoulder stability from the dumbbell work, and because I'm running out of dumbbells at my gym and I'd like to keep progressing.)
    DL: 135x5, 225x5. Work set: 275x5 reps
    Dips: +60x3x5 reps

You won't be chubby if you do the program. Do you have the book? 5'5" at 161 is not chubby when you are strong. Keep up the good work. When you can not increase weight each session you are ready to look for an intermediate program. There are certified SS coaches in your area. Check with one and do at least one face to face.

Are you DB Pressing 100 lb dumbbells or is that 2 50 lb dumbbells (one in each hand)?

I'm just curious. Why are you using dumbbells for your press instead of a barbell?

Dumbbells feel better on my shoulder joint. I am planning to switch back to barbell now that I am stronger

    starting strength coach development program
Had to take some time off for travel related reasons, and switching back to barbells for all presses from now on. Things are back to normal, so my workouts and logging will be consistent now

    July 2nd Lifts

    Squat: 45x5, 135x5, 185x5, 225x3, 3x245x5
Bench Press (back to barbells): 45x5, 135x5, 3x185x5
    Deadlift: 135x5, 225x5, 275x5
    Dips: 3x(+60)x5

Squats were kind of hard, first time lifting in about a week and a half
    Bench was easy peasy
    Deadlift was easy peasy
    Dips were nothing
