    Hey SS Community,

    Little history...

    I’m a 31 y/o male in San Antonio. I’m 5’ 9” and weigh about 168 currently.

I haven’t lifted since I was about 16 y/o and a wrestler. Since then I’ve had spurts I’d trail running and yoga.

To make sure I started with proper form, I drove up to Luke’s Barbell Club in Austin. SS coach, Jarrod Schaefer, coached me through the 4 lifts.

Eating “like a beast” for muscle gains. Going easy on the milk. 1 pint/day helps me reach calorie/macro goals.

I’ve already done 4 workouts so I’ll put those in this post...

    7/24
    Squat - 3 sets of 5 @ 85 lbs.
    Bench - 3 sets of 5 @ 75 lbs.
    Deadlift - 5 x 135 lbs.

    7/26
    Squat - 3 sets of 5 @ 90 lbs.
    Press - 3 sets of 5 @ 60 lbs.
    Deadlift - 5 x 145 lbs.

    7/28
    Squat - 3 sets of 5 @ 95 lbs.
    Bench - 3 sets of 5 @ 80 lbs.
    Deadlift - 5 x 155 lbs.

    8/1
    Squat - 3 sets of 5 @ 100 lbs.
    Press - 3 sets of 5 @ 65 lbs.
    Deadlift - 5 x 165 lbs.

Welcome! Glad you went to Luke's. I got to work with Jarrod for an hour when I passed thru Austin last month. Well worth it.

Keep logging! It's a great help for accountability, I find.

    8/5/18

    Squat 105 3x5
    Bench 85 3x5
    DL 175 1x5

Got over body weight in DL today. Getting heavy! Nervous about the next session...

Edit: talked to SS coach, Jarrod Schaefer. He said I can drop to 5 lb. increases now on DL. Has me sliiiightly less nervous about next session haha.

Also, passed 8000 lbs. in total lifted today. Pretty cool!

    8/7/18

    Squat - 110lbs. 3x5
    Press - 70lbs. 3x5
    DL - 180 1x5

Felt a lot better today. Did Feigenbaum’s overnight oats and coffee pre-workout.

Squat’s starting to feel moderately heavy.

Press is a little uneven. Non-dominant arm heading up the fastest. Might be because of the mirror at Globo gym... if I was staring a hole in the wall it’d be fine.

DL - was bearable. Glad I didn’t go up by 10 though...

Can you lift not facing the mirror? It will benefit you greatly to learn to feel the lift rather than looking at your reflection. It's distracting.

I can with the DL but would have to spin around with the barbell for squat and press. That seems like a recipe for disaster... Will switch gyms soon.

    Squat 115lbs. 3x5
    Bench 90lbs. 3x5
    DL 185 1x5

Starting to realize the need for chalk. Starting to blister. Going to get that little bag thing from REI and sneak it in (LA Fitness is a no-chalk gym.)

Weight: up to 170.6 lbs. but kind of stalling out. Going to readjust caloric/macro goals.

    Squat 120lbs. 3x5
    Press 75lbs. 3x5
    DL 190 1x5

Press is starting to feel heavy. Still do-able though.
