a good steady start; keep it up and you'll be very pleased with the results (as will the missus!)

Looking forward to today's workout.
Waist: measured at the belly button 36.5 inches
I'll be back with some strength numbers later
Today's effort
Squat - 154 lbs (70kg), 3 sets of 5 reps
Overhead Press - 77 lbs (35kg), 3 sets of 5
Deadlift - 198 lbs (90kg), 1 set of 5
I think I've reached the end of adding 11 lbs/5 kg everytime I squat. Today's form was not great. I will reduce it to 5.5 lbs/2.5 kg next work out.
Also considering changing standing overhead press, to seated overhead press, until the weight belt arrives.
This particular exercise aggrivates the discs in my lower spine. The seated version does not cause the same pain level.
In order to tell whether or not your lower back is a problem or just the normal progression from weakness to strength it would be helpful for you to find a certified SS coach and if possible have him critique your press in person. If not connect with one online. If he recommends you see a Doctor go see a Doctor. The belt may or may not help. That's worth a try but I suspect that a Starting Strength coach can help you not only with the press but with all of your lifts.
Yes.
I could maybe see a powerlifting coach.
I'm in Australia so I don't think we have starting strength coaches.
Waist measurement was 36" today down from 36.5" just a day ago.
Almost certainly just randomness of the measurement.
There are two Starting Strength coaches in Australia, one in Sydney another in Adelaide. SSCA : Coaching
Also, you have access to SS coaches from all over the world online.
