Bad days happen and dont always indicate a time for deload.

But with this kind of progression, they certainly can creep up on you.

Do you step back the weights on your return?

These have been the first fails so far, when I return on Wednesday I will step them back. So more to the story, my little girl threw up 3 times yesterday. So I may not have been feeling 100% last week and didn't know it. That would explain alot. Thanks for your response.

    Week 9, Session 20, 11:00 AM.

    Squat (255) 5, 5, 5
    Press (130) 5, 5, 5
    Power Clean (135) 5, 5, 5

    Good session, bar moved well.
I used a belt on squats today, medium tightness. I feel refreshed after a week off of heavy. Bar moved very efficiently and well 10 lbs lighter than last week. I think it will give me a good spring board to get back to where we left off.

    Mom's Session
    Week 4, Session 4

    Squat (40) 5, 5, 5
    Bench (45) 5, 5, 5
    Dead (75) 5, 5, 5
    Press (27) 5, 5, 4

Working hard on technique for Squat and Press, Bench is looking better, Dead is looking very smooth. Way to go Mom!

How can light squat day feel so stinkin' heavy!

Other than that good session. We will see how deads feel when we hit them again. Grip was terrible.

Nice progress! That's the thing about squats. After a certain point, it all feels heavy! I think it becomes a mental game.

I am contemplating taking my wed light squat day to 75% next week 205. If I am going to take a mental break from squats I want it to be an actual mental break. What do you think?

    starting strength coach development program
    Week 10, Session 23, 11:00 A.M.

    Squat (265) 4, 5, 3
Bench Worked up to (300) 1 <-- PR for Full ROM!!!
    Wtd Chins (60) 5, 5, 5

Squats were garbage, it's time for me to make adjustment.

Bench, feeling strong and wanted to do something different today. Kind of heavy singles day working our way in 7-8 sets to PR's. Partner hit 265, his adult PR. Missed 275 due (from what i saw) bar travel to much distally. I think he could do this weight but in a month we may do this again and he will for sure go 250, 260, 270.
For me all of these singles felt really good. I think after working on 5's for the past 10 weeks i was energized to throw it all into 1 Rep. Worked up 95, 145, 245, 255, 265, 285, 300. This was a very meaningful PR for me because when I hurt my shoulder being naive and stupid PRing 295 then trying 305 and hurting my shoulder. It took me 2 years of of work to heal (i didn't know then what i know now) and work back to a 300 Bench with a yoga block on my chest (basically board press) with shorter range of motion. So today was FULL ROM and an extremely smooth and strong 300. I could have easily thrown up 305 or 310, but if i have learned anything but being through stupid injuries is that you quit while your ahead and don't push your limits at 46 years old.

Wtd chins felt easy today because i was riding high from my bench PR, so that was a bit comical.

Also trained mom today and she did awesome.

    Week 5, session 5. 12:30 pm.

    Squat (45) 4, 5, 5
    Bench (50) 5, 5, 5
    Dead (95) 5, 5, 5
    Press (27) 5, 5, 5

We were due to hit 85 pounds today but she has done so well on these i upped it to 95 w/o telling her.
    After first set,
    Me: How much was that?
    Mom: 85 lbs?
Me: Nope, 95 (with a big smile).
    Mom: What?!?!?!

She went on to do the same for last 2 sets. Next week when she tops 100, i am going to take pictures and send them to our family.
I am so proud of mom, (71, soon to be 72).

This was good day, a very good day.
