Tim's LP, W3D2
Tim's in good health today. Some residual fatigue is starting to creep into upper body; I've been double-booking his pressing motions but that's gonna scale back, explained below.
Squat: 205x5x3
Back in good health, Tim smoked a 10lb bump in squats.
Press: 103x5x3
3lb jump and got them all.
Row: 115x8x3
Bench: 175x5, 200x1
Tim's pushing stamina is coming up against a wall. I'm pleased we've made it as far as we have doubling up on press and bench. Even after a really grindy fahve at 175, though, he had enough for a lifetime single PR. We're gonna beat our buddy to 225!
Plan going forward (for as long as it's sustainable): Do A and B workouts, where A is benchx5x3, pressx5, and B is pressx5x3, benchx5.
So next session (Sunday), the plan is: Press, 106x5; Bench, 175x5x3. Session following: Bench, 180x5, Press, 106x5x3.

Tim's LP, W4D1
Bodyweight: 187 (+5 this week, +14 since start LP)
Squat: 210x5x3
+5. I expect to keep +5s at this point. Good work from Tim on these today.
Press: 106x5, 115x1, 125x1
Made his 5PR with a +3 jump, then grabbed a couple singles because he wants to see where he is.
Deadlift: 255x5
+5. Smoked these. 250 was difficult, and the bar was getting away from his legs. This set of 5 was tight to the legs, and the reps came up quickly as a result. Slowest rep (5th) was 2.2 seconds.
Bench: 175x5x3
Sets across PR.

Tim's LP, W4D2
Squat: 215x5x3
+5. No significant form issues, except (like me) it is very hard to persuade Tim to trust me to monitor depth while he **keeps his eye gaze down.**
Press: 106x5x3
Smoked this with little difficulty.
Deadlift: 260x5
+5. Tim requested a second session of dealift in a row since 255 went so well. These came up fast, and Tim's keeping the bar against his legs much better, which I think accounts for the success.
Bench: 180x5
+5. Reps 1 and 2 he smoked; 3 thru 5 were grinders. Not sure if this is mental, recovery, what. But I plan to keep the stairstep plan thru end of this week before reassessing.

Tim's LP, W4D3
Squat: 220x5x3
+5 again. No major comments.
Press: 110x3x3
Was going to try to push 3x3s to Sunday, but we started today, and kicked it off with 4lb jump.
Deadlift: 265x0, 0
Whelp ... Tim wanted to deadlift again today after how well squats went. I should've put my foot down and done rows. Now, we'll do rows Sunday, and deadlift on Tuesday.
Bench: 185x3x3
+5, 3x3 success.
Biggest variation from standard LP that's happening right now is still the fact that he's pressing and benching in every session. So far, he's still adding weight to the bar on both exercises, and getting meaningful volume: 18 working reps today.
A good session today. Tim's looking forward to squatting 2 plates on Sunday.

Tim's LP, W5D1
Bodyweight: 191 (+4 week, +18 month)
So Tim's being compliant at the dinner table too. Today marks exactly 1 month since we started, and he's up 18 lbs of bodyweight so far. Wewt!
Deadlift: 265x5
+5. An extra day of rest makes a big difference. Tim greeted me at the platform and said he was definitely doing deadlifts today, because he wanted to crush 265. So we did, and he did. Good work. Told him we'll next deadlift in a week.
Press: 115x3x3
+5. These flew up. Tim used a 2.0 on sets 1, 2. Then a 1.5 on set 3. For sets of 5, we had scaled back to 3-lb increases, but now I think that we're only doing triples, he looks like he's got at least one more 5-lb jump.
Squat: 225x5x3, 245x1, 265x1, 275x1. Video of 225 set 3, and 275 single, at Geoffrey Bischoff on Instagram: “Tim with 225x5 and 275x1. Before today, the heaviest weight Tim had ever put on us back was 220. Great work. #22000lbs4johnson…”
Big squat day for Tim. He was having a much better time keeping his head neutral today (though you can still see him chicken-bob in the video), and his squats were flying. So after he smoked his 3x5 without slowing down, we took three singles, with 5 minutes rest between each. Keep in mind: Before today, the most weight Tim's ever had on his back, period, was 220. So today he effectively took his squat PR up by 55lbs (220 to 275). You can see in the video that his rep at 275 only takes 2.1 seconds to complete. Tim's going to go far in this LP if he keeps discipline.
Bench: 190x3x3
+5. Another day of work.

Tim's LP, W5D2
Squat: 230x5x3
+5. Not much drama. Tim's starting to feel the grind.
Press: 120x3x3
+5. These came up quicker than 115.
Rows: 120x8x3
Bench: 195x3x3
+5. Starting to get grindy, but he's got more.
Tim's going to do a light day without me while I'm at Army on Thursday, and take Sunday off because he's got Army. So when I next see him for training, he should be quite well rested.

Tim's LP, W5D3
Squat: 235x5x3
Press: 125x3x3
Row: 125x3x3
Bench: 200x3x3
Tim texted me his results. I thought since I'm away on duty he might take a night to rest, but he's hungry for den gainzz.
And his Army duty this weekend is garrison so he'll be sleeping at home and eating whatever he wants, so we're hopeful we can do Sunday as normal and maybe even PR his deadlift that day.

Awesome job, Tim! Glad to see him continuing to train, including weight increases, with his coach unavailable. That, to me, is the most exciting part!

Adam, Tim is absolutely killing it. Check out today's session, it really speaks to his dedication.
Tim's LP, W6D1
Weigh-in: 194lbs (+3)
PR CITY! Video at Geoffrey Bischoff on Instagram: “Tim crushes 3 major PRs: 225 bench, 135 press, 275 deadlift for fahve. SDG #22000lbs4johnson #22miles4johnson #weights #wendler531…”
Deadlift: 275x5
+10. Tim's Adidas Powerlifts came in and he was hungry to hit two and a half plates, so he gutted it out.
Press: 135x1x2
+10 to lifetime PR. He was hungry for PRs today and we'd both just come off of Army duty so I figured what the hell, let's play games. After this, we're moving him from triples back to 5s, to get more LP out of him.
Squat: 240x5x3
+5. Tim's squat is still moving as programmed.
Bench: 225x1 (Lifetime PR!), 180x5x3
+20 lifetime. Tim's unofficial competition with our friend Andrew is done, with Tim the winner (maybe this will convince our friend Andrew to take me on as a coach). Then, we went back to his best set of 5 and did it for sets across. I'll still be having him do bench and press on the same day, for sets of 5 across, until that runs out, then back to triples. Will that last 2 sessions, or 2 weeks? Dunno. I'm just titrating this so Tim keeps adding weight to the bar.
Subjective: Tim's showing his weight gain in favorable ways. He's visibly thicker through the shoulders than when we began, and both he and his wife are loving it.
