    Squat.........235x5x3

Back in business and moving right along. Not using a belt yet. I did pretty well managing soreness by starting with just one set of each lift on Monday.

Look at you, just casually blowing past the rest of us. :-) Glad to see your NLP2.0 is going well. I'll be really curious to see if you can push it past your first one since you had some time in the intermediate program. You still have a real shot at that 3-plate bench and 4-plate squat this year. Maybe even a 2-plate press?

Your NLP is chugging along pretty well too!

I imagine I'll get a little past where I was, maybe set some small PRs before I move to weekly programming. This time around I will most likely skip the top set/backoff sets "advanced novice" tweak and just move to intermediate programming when I've exhausted sets across on the squat. Last time, top sets only lasted a couple weeks.

I have a lot of upper back soreness for some reason. Dropping to five pound jumps on the deadlift.

    Default NLP Week 5

    Monday 4/12
    Squat.........315x5x3
    Press..........144x5x3
    Deadlift.......380x5

    Wednesday 4/14
    Squat.........320x5x3
    Bench.........215x5x3
    Power Clean.160x3x5
    Chin Up.......BWx5,5,5

    Friday 4/16
    Squat.........325x5x3
    Press..........146x5x3
    Deadlift.......385x5

Resting about six minutes now. Tried adding in chins in between power clean sets. The chins felt really stressful - I ended up with some odd pain in the right pec and upper back. Had some left SI joint pain (where I hurt myself before) Thursday into Friday morning. Didn't affect the workout, and in fact it seemed to help a little. Have to keep an eye on that.

    Squat.........265x5x2 (light day)

    Deadlift.......395x5 <--unintentional 10 pound jump. Grabbed the 5s instead of the 2.5s.

    Bench.........225x5x3

Unremarkable week. No more pains, and chins feel fine now. Implemented light day squats on Wednesday.

Got my four plate deadlift back. I'm ready to shift to a weekly pulling schedule. I'm going to try the basic HLM scheme from PPST3 of power clean/power snatch/deadlift.
