    Hi everyone,

New to the forum, and getting back on the program after ~7 years away from lifting. I have a sports and martial arts background, but got married and a career and built excuses to not get off my ass. Done with the excuses and getting back at it.

    33 years old, Male
    5' 11", 225lb
Ordered some skin fold calipers to measure body fat. I'm guessing it'll be 25% plus.
Quite a bit of fat put on over the years. Hoping to slim that down while still maintaining a respectable progression.

Previous PR's from what I remember of years ago:

    Squat: 325 lb 3x5
    Bench: 225 lb 3x5
    Dead: 375 lb 1x5
    Press: can't remember
Clean: can't remember, and I am going to sub Barbell Row for this now.

Started up again 3 weeks ago with:

    Squat: 225 lb 3x5
    Bench: 135 lb 3x5
    Dead: 250 lb 1x5
    Press: 95 lb 3x5
    Row: 185 lb 3x5

As of today I am at:

    Squat: 250 lb 3x5
    Bench: 170 lb 3x5
    Dead: 300 lb 1x5
    Press: 115 lb 3x5
    Row: 210 lb 3x5

Haven't had any stalls or had to reset yet. Hoping to keep the linear progression going for quite a while. Hoping this log and the community will help keep me accountable.

    Onward!

Welcome! And welcome back to lifting! You are going to love this program. I started stalling at about week 8 or so. Keep posting it's good motivation.

    Today’s lifts:

    Press: 120x3x5
    Row: 215x3x5

    Accessory Lifts:
    Preacher curls
    Lat Pulldown
    Ab Pull Machine
    Rear Delt Fly’s

Energy was good, got the weights up without a ton of strain on the final set. Surprising because I had a hard time getting to sleep last night.

Big lifts coming on Saturday (squat, bench, dead’s).

    Today’s lifts:

    Bench: 175x3x5
    Squat: 260x3x5
    Dead: 315x1x5

Lifted later in the day than usual and felt really psyched, so I bumped the deadlift up 15 this time. Nailed it. Strength is coming back faster than I thought it would.

I wanted to start with squats but the racks were all filled. One asshole thought it was cool to do bicep curls in the squat rack. Should have his gym membership revoked instantly... God, help me.

Got some skinfold calipers. 20% body fat. Better than I thought it would be.

    Onward!

    Today:

    Press: 125x3x5
    Row: 220x3x5

    Accessory Lifts:

    Preacher curl: 70x3x5
    Ab and oblique pulldowns
    Calf Extensions: 200x3x15

    Today:

    Squat: 270x3x5
    Bench: 180x3x5
Dead: 325x1x4 - Failed 5th rep. Not sure a reset is warranted. One more inch up and I would have had it past the knees and would have dug it out. Will try this weight again next time. If I fail again, I'll reset. May be time to move to 5 lb. increments.

    Today 7/31/2020:

    Light Squat: 225x3x5
    Press: 130x3x5
    Row: 225x3x5

    Accessory Lifts:

    Lat Pulldown (chins grip)
    Preacher curl 75x3x5
    Ab and oblique pulldowns

Energy was good. I pulled my lower lat last time I did rows. Pretty sure my form was off, so I watched Rip's video on barbell row again. Felt stable and no pain during this session, so I healed fast. I really stressed good form this time and it paid off.

    Today 8/3/2020:

    Squat: 275x3x5
    Bench: 185x3x5
Dead: 325x1x5 - Nailed it today. Happy to not need a reset.

Energy actually kind of sucked today. Had a shitty diet this weekend, which probably contributed. Onward.

    Today 8/5/2020:

    Light Squat: 225x3x5
    Press: 135x3x5
Row: 225x3x5 - Didn't go up in weight. Thought I had done 220 last time. I was wrong.

    Today 8/7/2020:

    Squat: 280x3x5
    Bench: 190x3x5
    Dead: 330x1x5

Past three days or so I've been getting back pumps just doing household chores or walking the dogs. Not on any pro-hormones or anabolics, so don't bother asking lol... Is this normal? Could it be water retention from creatine?
