Default Back At It after a 9 month break.

After 9 months away I have lost all the strength I attained previously.
You lose it fast when you're in your late 40's

I only performed one set at working weight. I am hoping to eliminate doms. I tend to suffer a lot with that

    Squat: 50kg, 5 reps
    Bench: 50kg, 5 reps
    Deadlift: 70kg, 5 reps

Depending how I feel tomorrow, I might go back and do 2 sets, without increasing any weight.

    Feeling some soreness today.
    Hahaha

I think if you are over 40 and starting out, I think it might make more sense starting with just the bar on all exercises but train 5 days in a row (with small increases) in the first week, just to eliminate doms altogether.
Then the second week becomes the actual start of LP.

Since I am feeling soreness, I figure I have created enough stress on the body for adaption to occur and probably should just rest.
I will try 3 sets tomorrow, most likely at same weight. No rush, consistency is the key here.

Doms are absolutely killing me right now. I can barely walk.
    Hahaha

Probably will go back on Friday, and repeat the first workout but with 3 sets.

I'm not even counting this week.

Starting next week I will start a proper Linear Progression.

It will be interesting to watch your progress. If after 40 is a challenge wait until you are after 70.

    My advice is, never stop.
    Hahahaha
The first workout back is a killer. Well the workout was actually easy, it's what happened days afterwards.

It's the bloody squats that kill me.
I benched the same weight I squatted with zero soreness problems in my chest/shoulder/tricep region.
I thought 50kg would be absolutely fine for squats but no.
    Hahahaha

I'm 47 now, so creeping up on 50 before I know it.
    Time flies.

    Today's workout

    Squat: 50kg, 5, 5, 5
    Bench: 50kg, 5, 5, 5
    Deadlift: 80kg, 5 reps

First full workout today, my legs are still bloody sore but I was capable of squatting with the pain.

Deadlift increased to 80kg today cause I couldn't find 5kg plates. Hahaha

    Next week it starts.

Can't believe how incredibly bloody weak I have gotten in such a short time.

    Start of Starting Strength Workouts

    Squat: 50kg, 5, 5, 5
    OHP: 30kg, 5, 5, 5
    Deadlift: 80kg, 5 reps

    Squat: 52.5kg, 5, 5, 5
    Bench: 50kg, 5, 5, 5
    Deadlift: 90kg, 5 reps

    Squat: 55kg, 5, 5, 5
    OHP: 32.5kg, 5, 5, 5
    Deadlift: 95kg, 5 reps

    Squat: 57.5kg, 5, 5, 5
    Bench: 55kg, 5, 5, 5
    Deadlift: 97.5kg, 5 reps

    Squat: 60kg, 5, 5, 5
    OHP: 35kg, 5, 5, 5
    Deadlift: 100kg, 5 reps

Deadlift is too far in front of squat.
I think I need to transition to the next workout phase too, but probably not going to bother with power cleans, since I am in a crowded commercial gym, might do a light deadlift day combined with seated rows.

yeah, it's somewhat depressing how quickly it slips

and how much harder it is to get back. just take it slow and steady, because sadly you also don't heal as quickly either

    Yeah.
I am in no rush this time around.
Just happy to be lifting again and actually enjoying not lifting heavy at the moment.

Good to be back here with the brothers.
