I've been in surgery recovery, monitoring Seth from afar, so I'm not sure what order this all happened in. But ...

    Squat: 335x5 (5PR!), 295x5x2

    Bench: 280x3x2 (3PR!)

    Press: 180x5 (5PR)

Another foggy report. I should rejoin Seth tomorrow in person.

    Squat: 340x5 (5PR!)

Got 6 reps in. This weight was previously his best single. Time to microload these a few times and see where we get.

    Bench: 240x5x5

    Volume success.

Lots of stuff happening at work right now, and getting consistent training is becoming difficult. Had a shortened time today, and elected to take some singles.

Squat: 355x1 (PR!), 370x1 (PR!), 385x1 (PR!) 405x1x2 (PR!) Second single at 405 at Login • Instagram

So ... 5 reps, at an average weight of 385lbs. Not bad tonnage. But holy smokes ... Seth's highest squat ever was 340x5 before today, so he increased his squat PR by 65lbs!

Workout lasted 21 minutes before Seth got called away on business. I intended to work bench singles, then press volume, then deadlifts. All we got done were bench singles, but it was a good day.

+20 on the bench 1RM today. Good times.

Volume/Intensity running now ... Seth's into early intermediate in all the lifts, in part because he's in calorie deficit (situational/artificial intermediate), and in part because well, it's week 12 so I expected we'd be here by and by.

I'm going to continue this single log in Novice country, though, until Seth departs for his next assignment, to see how far we're able to get.

    Monday:

    Bench (Volume): 245x5x2, 225x5x3

    Press (Volume): 155x5, 145x5x4

Told Seth to start at 245/155, and get 25 reps. He titrated down as necessary to get the volume in. 50 reps of work.

    Tuesday:

    Deadlift (Volume): 335x5x3

    Squat: 315x5, 5, 5, 7

Haven't pulled in awhile, and we both had a ceremony to attend right after this. I knew we'd be tight on time and wanted deadlifts done. These flew up without issue despite us being in the less-well-equipped gym. On squats: Seth's best 3x5 performance before today was 285, but I knew he'd progressed well beyond that. I also knew we didn't have time for 5 sets. So on set 4, I told him to do a "responsible" AMRAP. The result was 7 reps (which I guess is a 7PR, if that were a thing we're tracking). 37 working reps today, all told. No lifts at all tomorrow.

4DLP, rest of week 12 and week 13

Work's picking up for Seth, and for me, and I keep forgetting to log. This is going to be just the highlights. Some missed sessions in here.

Squat (Intensity): 345x5 (PR!), 355x5 (PR!)

Squat (Sets Across): 325x5x3 (Volume PR)

These are the notable lifts week 11 and 12.

    Deadlift (Volume): 345x5x3, 355x5x3

    Deadlift (Intensity): 410x5 (PR!)

Getting it in. Seth's back-setting is showing much improvement as we do these longer volume sessions for deadlift. And he's young enough to recover from it (so far). I edited this post to add in his 410x5, because it happened.

    Press (Intensity): 190 (PR!)

    Bench (Intensity): 285x2x3 (PR!)

PR single in the press, PR double in the bench, taken three sets.

Training is progressing. Most promising lift right now seems to be the squat. Seth is in calorie deficit now, though, so our days might be numbered. He's down from 245 to 239. We knew this was coming; his next assignment wants him to present a specific appearance in uniform. I continue to manage his expectations as to strength-gain while losing weight. His current plan is to remain in calorie deficit until departure in April. I think we can squeeze a bit more toothpaste out of this tube before the end, though.

Seth has been stressed out and missing some volume sessions due to work requirements. He commands a company of Soldiers, and they keep him hopping sometimes. Some days it's just like that.

    Bench: 295x2 (2PR!)

Still squeaked out a PR double.
