Not sure if Cory's gonna stick with this, since it's so different from what he's done before, but he's two sessions deep so I'm gonna log it while he's with me.

    Stats:

    Male
    Age 26
    Height 71 inches
    Weight 161 pounds

Cory is a Company Executive Officer whom I met awhile back when we were on the same battalion staff. He texted me a few days ago asking if I had room for him to lift with us. Since I'm on a 4-day split for me and for Seth (see "Seth Tries LP" log), I invited him to join us in the middle of the week. We got three sessions, and I royally F%^&ed the first one as a coach, as you'll see.

    4DLP, W1D1

    Squat: 135x5, 5, 2

I'm used to a certain minimum level of strength for a Soldier and an officer. Cory's more the running type, though. He was a good sport learning the form model, and punched through two sets with relative ease, but Seth and I had to pull the third set off his back. Damn, damn, damn. The goal is always to hit a sure target for session one, and I jacked this up badly.

    Deadlift: 165x5

    No issues here.

    4DLP, W1D2

    Press: 85x5x3

    Bench: 95x5x3

Cory had more to give on the upper body, as is typical of Soldiers.

    4DLP, W1D3

    Squat: 45x5x3

Hit this target. Cory was badly sore from the previous squat session. If I'd done it right, we'd have done 95 the first day, and be at 105 today. Instead, because of my screw-up, we're punching the empty bar.

    Deadlift: 185x5

At least I got this one right.

    4DLP, W2D1 thru 4

    Squat: 95x5x3

    Squat: 105x5x3

    Got these working correctly now.

    Deadlift: 205x5

    Deadlift: 225x5

Probably +10s on this starting next week.

    Bench: 115x5x3

    Bench: 135x5x3

I think Cory's got a week of +10s before we scale back to +5s.

    Press: 95x5x3

    Press: 105x5x3

Managed to squeak out a pair of +10s; going to +5s next week.

Bodyweight is at 162 now; gained a pound. Gonna be hard to get Cory to eat.

Thought Cory had another +10 in bench, and he did.

Went +5 on press, and it was the right move.

    Press: 120x5 (5PR!), 100x5x2

Moving to top-and-drop. But I can also see it's time to bring out the microplates.

    Bench: 165x4, 135x5x2

Cory didn't have it for 5. We'll try 162.5 next bench, and carry on.

I'm waiting for a couple things on Cory:

    1) Weight Gain. It's starting: He clocked in at 170 this week.

    2) Belt and shoes. Ordered, awaiting ship.

    Squat: 140x5x3 (5PR!)

Lifetime PR set of 5. Cory hasn't squatted much, and he reports his best squat single as 185.

    Deadlift: 250x5

Another +10. Cory reports a lifetime best single at 315. He's never trained sets of 5 though, so he is certain this is a PR set of 5.

    Press: 122.5x5 (5PR!), 100x5x2

    Bench: 162.5x5 (5PR!), 135x5x2

So we're moving ahead nicely now. Here's the big PR though:

Bodyweight: 172 (+2 this week, +11 since start)
