I'm starting out weak as hell. I have no experience strength training with a barbell, except for trying a deadlift two years ago.

Welcome, you’re on your way to awesomeness.

From my own short experience, I’d say work on your form while the weights are light. Take lots of videos, critique yourself, then send in a few for form checks. And for me TUBOW was a real game changer.

    Good luck!

What Richard said. All of it (although I have no experience with the TUBOW).

My first time through NLP (I've done it a few times for reasons) I started empty bar or quite light, like you. That's not the prescribed way in the book, but I found that it helped me go slow and focus on my form.

Keep at it, post those videos, seek feedback, and keep posting here. Plenty of folks willing to help.

Thank you both. TUBOW looks like a great idea, going to try it out as soon as I can.

You would do well to purchase the Basic Starting Strength book and Barbell Prescription. Best wishes.

Thanks, I'll pick up Barbell Prescription too. Got a copy of SS 3rd edition I've been reading through as well.

Good to see that you're putting distance between those squats and deadlifts. Too many folks start too light on the deads, then start making smaller jumps earlier than they need.

But don't think that you'll get away with 15lb jumps on the press too long. That will slow down first, meaning that you'll get to a point where you'll be making 2.5lb jumps, but don't worry about it. That's just the nature of the press.

    Keep at it!

Messed up and took a bigger incremental jump on squats and deadlifts than intended on the May 9th workout. It worked out, although today felt much more difficult. And yeah, I may need to start reducing the increments, or taking longer rests between sets.

With warmups this last round took about ~40 minutes to finish.
