Bill and Melly got the COVID. They're just out of quarantine and recently symptom-free.
Bill: OUT
Melly:
Squat: 115x5x3
Bench: 75x5x3
Deadlift: 155x5

Bill: OUT
Melly:
Squat: 135x5x3
Press: 65x5, 5, 4
Deadlift: 155x5
Deadlift was a misload. Supposed to be 175. Press, well, she's not back at full strength yet for sure.

How is Bill's hip, is it getting any better? It seems that Melly will be back soon at her best number, nice!

Brother, I have no idea how his hip is doing ... he's been laid up with COVID so long, I can't imagine it's gotten any better. I try to convince him that some movement is better than no movement, but convincing a 45-year-old dude who's been a couch potato since the Clinton Administration that "more movement is better" has been difficult.
I admit to low hopes on this one.

Oh, thanks for clarification. I thought he had been working on fixing it and getting back to training.
-
Yeah, started that way ... then, the Rona hit and everything went out the window. Got him out lifting today a bit.

Bill:
Leg Press: 230x8
Bench: 75x5x3
Melly:
Squat: 140x5x2, 115x5
Bench: 80x5, 65x5x2
Deadlift: 155x5
Deadlift was a misload. Supposed to be 175. Dang.

Bill:
Leg Press: 180x8x3
Press: 100x5, 80x5x2
Deadlift: 135x5
Hip still not good for squat; leg press seems to be working for him so we're gonna LP it, but I made him promise to at least deadlift.
Melly: 145x5, 125x5x2
Press: 55x5x3
Deadlift: 190x4
Didn't realize that Melly didn't pull 175 last session, but had hit 155 again. So I programed 190 based on how fast "175" moved in video. Whelp; she's not back to 190 for 5 yet obv. Going to back down to 165 and take +10s until it's looking better. If she stays on pace she'll be back in PR territory end of next week.

Hi Geoff,
I am new here and since posting have been following some of the threads. You are doing some great work here with people.
Bill has struck a chord with me and I am hoping the best for him (and Melly as well of course). He has had some challenges but his press really impresses me. 100lbs for an out of shape couch potato is pretty hard work.
Take care
Bill

Bill: Thanks man! I'm enjoying watching folks progress, even as my own training is in arrears due to surgery (though my bench press is at 95% of lifetime best as of a week ago, so I'm encouraged there too).

Bill:
Leg Press: +190x8x3
Bench: 95x5x3
Deadlift: 145x5
Melly:
Squat: 150x5, 125x5x2
Bench: 90x2, 1, 1, 1; 70x5x2
Deadlift: 165x5
Bench for Melly was a problem. Based on video I've got some form work to do there.

Bill:
Leg Press: +200x8x3
Let press glided smoothly. Bill reported feeling strong and feisty, but, erm ... him and his lovely lady were having a rough time getting along at the gym, so Bill stopped early. The joys of marriage!
Melly:
Squat: 155x4, 125x5x2
Bench: 85x5, 70x5x2
Deadlift: 175x5
Melly had 5 reps on squat if she went for it; she kinda chickened out for reasons. Going to go to top-triple and see how that rolls. Bench looks a ton better after dropping them an old Alan Thrall video about bench (dude used to be able to teach! Haven't liked his stuff as much lately). Deadlift looks good as well.
