    Age: 49
    Height: 5'10"
    Weight: 201 lbs

Gonna try lifting some things up and setting some things down again. Been nearly 3 years with several false starts that didn't last long. Maybe this log will provide some motivation. Pretty sure I bought the last available barbell after Covid hit. Couldn't get weights let alone a rack after that. Built my wooden Covid rack that barely got used. Ordered a T3 Space Saving rack from Titan in December. Just got everything put together. All set with the home gym - now I gotta work out.

Initial goal is to see if I can hit the old PR's at my advanced age. Weight is about the same; just missing the bit of muscle I had gained.

    1/26/22 Established starting weights:

    Squat: 155x5
    Bench: 135x5
    Press: 95x5
Deadlift: 155x4,1; stopped early with a weird pinch in knee when lowering

Welcome back. My advanced age is only 75. So you will have room to grow. Can you get any online coaching? Are you near a SS coach or gym? Sometimes it's very helpful to have someone watching and critiqing at least from time to time.

Thanks for the welcome. Would love to attend one of the lifting clinics locally if they still do those. Seems like they were doing some squat clinics. I may post some form checks occasionally.

    W1D1 1/31/22 Mon
    BW: 201

    Squat: 155x5,5,5
    Bench: 135x5,5,5
    Xtra Press: 95x5,5,5
    DL: 155x5

Note: All felt pretty good. I’ll do some things here and there outside the program. Things I found to work well for me in the past. I’ll usually save the extra work for the end in case I run out of time.

    W1D2 2/3/22 Thu
    BW: 202 (2/2/22)

    Squat: 165x5,5,5
    Press: 100x5,5,8
    DL: 165x5, 185x5
    Xtra Bench: 135x5,5,5

Notes: All good. +30 on DL; 165 went fast so bumped it up. Tried belt on 1st squat set and had to stop and take it off. Gonna take some getting used to again. 8 on press for no good reason. ~RPE 8 on the 8; maybe starting weights a bit low (patience?).

Welcome to the forum iS. I think you will benefit by having a regular place to post your workouts and to some extent engage with others in the same pursuit. I am amazed at the length of time some of the members have been posting.

Best of luck with your training.

    Squat: 175x5,5,5
    Bench: 145x5,5,8@7.5
    DL: 195x5
    Xtra press: 100x5,5,8@8.5

Notes: Time 1hr6min. Tried to reduce wasted time. Tough to do with kids and pets in the house. All good. Squat felt easier than last session. Weak grip on DL.

Thanks for the welcome. I see some logs from way back…impressive. Can’t help but wonder where I could be if I stuck with it.

I'm not a qualified coach so take this for what it's worth, but at your age bracket I like the slow but steady approach. I'm a fan of 5lb jumps myself.
