Default You Should be 300 pounds.

I started my NLP in June of last year. I am not new to weights or training for a goal, however for the past 15 years I have been focused heavily on a physical job with 120+ hour weeks that left little for serious endeavors into strength training. This also left me fairly weak with several persistent injuries, that never quite seemed to heal. Fortunately I have had the opportunity to change careers, this gave me the opportunity to dive in to starting strength and hopefully rebuild myself after a decade and a half of tearing me apart.

    My starting stats were:
    36 years old
    6'4"
    195lbs
    squat 135lb
    Dead lift 175lb
    bench 45lb
    press pvc pipe(shoulder injury)

as of 1/16/25 7 months later:

    6'4"
    260lbs
    Squat 385 3x5
    Bench 240 3x5
    Deadlift 475 1x5
    Press 175 3x5
shoulder and knee injuries are all but gone.

I am lifting now more than I thought I ever would. A month ago I even started moving into an intermediate program, because I was missing lifts. I was wrong. I wasn't eating enough. I watched a now infamous SS clip where Rip tells a lifter that is also 6'4" that he needed to be 300 pounds. He was also told that he shouldn't worry about any of that intermediate level shit until he was squatting 600lbs, and deadlifting 675 by the end of the year.

After 2 weeks of eating to what I perceived to be ridicules levels of food, I have broken through previous plateaus and I am back on NLP. I have 22 weeks left in 1 year. If I can average 10lbs a week on lifts I will be squatting 600 by June. Hence the reason for this log. I want to accomplish this goal and intend to use every form of accountability available to me to achieve it. I want to find out what I am physically capable of, before I am too old to see it.

You have made impressive gains in just a few months. The gains you must make in the next several weeks seem almost incredible. But then, I'm not a coach, and within two weeks of being 78. My best advice is to connect with an SS coach in person, which is always the best, or online. You don't need to cause yourself another injury. I hate to question Rip, but his statement to another fellow may be inaccurate for you. Check with an SS coach.

I have found this video very helpful for shoulder rehab. YMMV.
