I agree Wrestling is one of the best things a young man can do. We are running into a slight hiccup as a few months ago he weighed 104 so we qualified for 112 to give us some room knowing the long term goal. He’s currently 112.5 in the AM and 5 weeks to go. I’m gonna stay the course and evaluate 2 weeks out. I think if we just cut out the shakes, bars, and extras he’ll
Be fine. Then back on the gain train

Under the weather the past few days, lots of kids sick. Going to skip today and hopefully get the workout in tomorrow.

    2/8
    Press 50x5x3
    Squat 70x5x3
    DL 115x5x1
    Pull-ups 2 sets
    DB curls 27.5 x15x3

Press coming along nicely, I think we’ll shoot for 3x6 next workout as opposed
to more weight. Squats coming along, each workout form improving and becoming smoother, might shoot for 3x6 and focus more on depth. DL looks good, getting close
To being his 5 rep max. We’ll add 5lbs next workout but after that might drop to using the 1.25 micro plates (2.5lbs total per workout). I have to keep in mind he’s 12 and 114lbs. Progress will be much slower as small increases are a large % of the total lift

    Bench - 95x5 100x5x2
    Squat 65x5x3
    DL 120x5x1
    Dips 3 sets
    Calf raises 130x12x3

Great day. We didn’t have the 1.25 micros to use for bench but he nailed a weight I wasn’t sure he had in him. Squats I noticed his first set with the bar was great, then when we added a 10 to each side first few reps were perfect then he broke down . We kept the weight lower and he hit every rep with great form so that’s our new baseline. I think he’s on track now with squats. DL we will just keep adding Until he stalls. It’s still our first few weeks so not overly pushing progression at any cost. I think we’re finally at a point where we have weights we can progress on with good form. Now it’s just time and food and see where we go.

Well March 16th is the tournament which he has to make 112, and he’s up to 113.5 already. Cutting wasn’t an option this year for him and qualified for a weight that was 8lbs over what we weighed at the time and we still over shot it. Which is a good thing. We’re gonna stay the course until he hits 214.5 then take out all extra shakes , bars, and milk. Realistically going zero carb 2 days before he’ll lose 2lbs of water no problem. One funny observation is he wanted to work bis/tris and DB curls are his best lift !! Hell be doing 30lb db curls for 3 sets of 12-14 next workout.

Pretty cool that your son is starting so early.

I wish I had that opportunity when I was younger.

Great workout, every lift is in the zone now. Nothing left but to clang and bang. Will buy a belt this week for him to start trying out

He had to cut weight for a big match , he was extremely tired and completely water depleted. Skipped squats and DL back at it Monday. It was the last match of the year for his league. He was undefeated going against another undefeated battling for the first seed at the league tournament. He won
