    Best way to search this site is with google

    I use a belt for the heavy presses, as a safety precaution. I put 45 pounds on my press before I had to start using it though.

    To prevent your spine from bending like a hinge at the bottom of your ribcage when it should be supporting a heavy weight above your head.

    Because the "reason" they used to get rid of the press in the Olympics was that it posed a danger to the back. This was BS, but has a kernel of truth, especially if doing it with extreme layback.

    Yeah, I like the belt, I don't know if it really helps or not, but it feels good and feels like it helps when pushing my head through my arms.
