    Default Bench Press Form Check SSLP

    • starting strength seminar april 2024

    Age: 23 male
    Height: 175cm (5ft 9in)
    BW: 82kg (180 lbs)
    Working weight: 60kg (135 lbs)
    12th workout (week 4) of SSLP

    1) Please excuse the wobbliness of sets 1 and 3. The specific camera angles required a human hand and I wanted to present the optimal angles for a proper evaluation.

    Lower the hooks - the bar is too high. Get your feet pressed into the ground harder.

    Unfortunately the hooks are fixed. The lower ones are too low and I have to bend the elbows when I rack the bar. Only option is to bench in a squat rack.

    Then go ahead and bench in the rack. Do what you need to do in order to do it right and safely. One of my trainees benches in the rack - we actually have to put 25 pound plates under the bench legs to make everything work at the right heights.
