Hello. When I deadlift with a barbell, I just can't feel anything in my hamstrings...no burn, no pulling, nothing.

However, today, just for kicks, I did some 50 lb. kettlebell deadlifts. I know those are forbidden, but I wanted to try something. I really made an effort to rotate my pelvis/hips between my legs (hopefully this makes sense) and then pulled. I could immediately feel my hamstrings on fire.

Could it be that my barbell deadlift form is completely wrong (I follow the 5 step process) and somehow I am using other muscles than hamstrings? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I posted a video of my most recent barbell deadlift here, although I only did one rep:

Can you please review my deadlift?

    Thanks

If your primary concern is feeling your hamstrings, just do RDLs. The deadlift is not famous for making your hamstrings sore, even if you get a better back extension than you do in the linked video.
