    Default Deadlift Check

So below are two videos of me conventional deadlifting. Previously, I had been deadlifting with a wider stance as I seem to be able to keep a more neutral spine, which I seem to struggle to achieve for conventional deadlifts.

Video 1: 5 rep set (first set)

Video 2: 3 rep set (final set)

Let me know your thoughts on my technique?

    Cheers

You might benefit from watching the 5 step deadlift YouTube video by Coach Niki Sims. Close your stance more to about hip width. Your shins are about 4 inches from the bar make it a 1 inch space between the bar and your shins. Grab the bar with your hands DONT MOVE THE BAR. Bring your shins to the bar you can sit your hips back and slightly down. Squeeze your chest out really hard, I mean as hard as you can and then push the floor away.

Thanks for the reply. Will watch the video and repost.

(Asking anyone) how bad was my form? I suppose I'm most concerned about my back.

With your build I'd have you deadlift in flats or slippers.

Interesting. Do you think it would be better to Dead without lifting shoes in the meantime e.g. just with my feet?

With socks on a non-slippery surface would be fine.
For new trainees, we encourage everyone to deadlift in their lifting shoes because it's a more stable platform to pull off of. But you have long legs without the benefit of really long arms. (lucky you)

I should also add that I feel I tried pretty hard to squeeze my chest up.

I was reading a few threads and shoving out my knees may help with setting my back?

Either way, would still be good to know what my form was like using the above two videos.

    Thanks.

    Try harder.
I'm not a coach so take this for what you paid for it, but I didn't see any attempt to extend your lower back at all. You're supposed to be uncomfortable before you pull.
