    Default Power clean form check

So for the past few weeks I've been doing another mini run of LP to get my strength back after a week of illness robbed me of a good bit of strength and 10 lbs of body weight. This means I'm working on the power clean again, and this time I'd like to keep it in my program when I switch back to intermediate programming in the not too distant future. Never got my form checked on my first go at LP, and I wasn't doing it on the 4 day split I was running pre-sickness. My girlfriend was kind enough to take some video for me yesterday, so I figured I should do something more constructive with it than just throwing it up on Instagram. I'm trying to nail the form down while they're still pretty light. I'm mostly focusing on not jumping too early (which was a problem before), and avoiding the dreaded arm pull. Any and all feedback is welcome.

    Thanks in advance!

Add more weight. Drop your hips with your shins as they touch the bar, drag the bar up your legs, make contact with you thigh as you jump and jump harder. I like my lifters with wider grips, I think it would benefit you when the weight gets heavier.

    Hello Dillon,

maybe you could add a bit more speed and anger after you finish the pull. You seem just a tad too relaxed when you rack the bar, and you are catching it so high (you are basically standing) that there is none of the fast, focused 'dive under the bar' that one would normally associate with this dynamic lift. Not a problem at this weight, but you'll need it when the bar start putting up a real resistance. The stomp too is a bit muffled, it's *almost* as if you are leading with your toes.

    Hope this helps,

    IPB

fairly good power cleans, considering how easy they are.

need more weight on the bar.

its just flying up so high so you are just content sitting there waiting for it to land into the rack position.

when you start using a challenging weight, you are going to have to pull your self under into the rack while moving your feet, etc etc etc
none of this is happening because the weight is so light.

Thanks a lot guys! Your comments are very helpful. Just wanted to make sure my form was half decent before I added too much weight. Last time I was too aggressive and the weight on the bar got ahead of my technique. Bad habits ensued. Sounds like it's decent enough at baby weight, and I'll just have to get more weight on there to get used to jumping harder and pulling myself under the bar with a harder stomp. I'll start taking a few bigger weight jumps and see how it goes. Sean, I'll try widening my grip a bit and see how it feels as well.

Thanks again! I'll follow up when the weight gets a little more challenging.
