    Default Novice Squat Form Check

35 years old. 185 lbs. Troubled right clavicle. 2-3 weeks into SSLP. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, as I'm not aware of any coaching in my area that would be guaranteed to be working with SS mechanics.

(For some background re: concern adjusting torso angle to lifting shoes, see this thread )

    3 sets @ 170 lbs

    Set One - YouTube
    (Rear Quarter)

    Set Two - YouTube
(Side view) (Some of the reps in this set got a little bit "experimental")

    Set Three - YouTube
    (Front Quarter)

    Many thanks,
    -Andrew

    Hey Andrew,

I know the shoes feel a bit different, but you still need to apply the same LBBS mechanics.

You’re too upright and you aren’t getting much hip drive as a result - you can see how much this slows you down through the mid range. Bend over more at start and push your ass back further.

Additionally, you may want to adjust your grip a bit as well. Turn your hands out and get that meaty part of your thumb on the bar. Clamp down with your finger tips, no need to grab the whole bar. You now should be able to bring your elbows down a bit and pull down on the bar to get your lats tight.
