    Default Squat form check

    Hi all
As my squats are getting up over 200lb I'd thought I'd ask for a form check. My main worry is not being able to maintain lumbar extension at the bottom of the squat.

    Thanks

Sorry I didn’t give much information in my first post. I’m 42 years old and have been running the novice LP since mid Oct 2019.

Squats have gone from 132lb to 225lb in this time. Body weight has gone from about 180 to 220.

The video is of my third working set at 226.

    Hey Simon

Bring your stance in at least an inch on each side so the heels are under the shoulders. What you're seeing is the lumber spine going from an over-extended position to neutral as you get to the bottom. We're trying to keep the back neutral, so there's no need to crank up on the lumbar that much when you set the back. If it persists, think about "crunching" the abs as you set up for each rep and bring your junk toward your chest.
I'd like to see a better "bounce" out of the bottom. You're slowing down and searching for depth. When you bring the stance in and shove the knees out, it'll help for you to get a better rebound out of the hole. Smooth and steady on the way down, then anticipate the hip drive out of the bottom.
