    Default Squat 3rd try + DL 1st try technique check (violation of 1 inch rule?)

    Hey guys,

    I have just uploaded my 3rd squat video (3x5x265lbs, this was the second set): YouTube

    I know the nylon belt and the black outfit are sub-optimal, sorry for that.


    I have also uploaded my first DL video (1x5x308lbs): YouTube

    I have the bar set up just above the shoelaces. The distance seems to be more than one inch but if I set it closer, it clearly isn't above midfoot. I have uploaded a picture of the distance to visualize this further. Should I put the bar closer to my shins? If yes, wouldn't that compromise the "mid foot" principle? The 1 inch rule and the above midfoot principle are really contradicting to me. Please help me understand this. I wear the Adidas Samba at size 46 2/3 (12 in US size).

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Squats look good. DL just needs a better lock out. Stand tall, knees and hips fully extended. The 1in is just an approximation. As long as the bar is over midfoot you are good. If you film from the direct side or a little in front we can see this better

    Thanks for your reply! Yes, I already noticed that I didn't stand completely tall at the top. I will make sure to do that on my next sets and I will also make a video from the side.
