    Am I getting all the slack out of the bar? Any advice on this? Anything else I should be doing?

    Getting the slack out is part of setting the back and happens at the same time. You're getting your back flat and then trying to get the slack out of the bar. The act of lifting the chest up, pulls the arms taught, which pulls the slack out of the bar.
