    Default Bench Press Form Check

    • starting strength seminar jume 2024
    • starting strength seminar august 2024
    All three sets @ 195lbs. This is my current PR. I have absolutely no idea how to generate leg drive. video

    1. Set the hooks one notch lower so you can easily unrack and re-rack
    2. Start every rep from lockout. After you unrack, the bar must be held over the shoulder joint with locked elbows before you lower. You never want to start a rep with a moving barbell over your face.
    3. For leg drive - are you thinking about actively pushing the floor away with your feet?

    Hi Coach Arnold,

    Thanks for that feedback. Very good call out on the lockout before first rep. As for the hook height, I will try that; I had been worried that at one notch lower with arms at full extension, the bar will completely clear the hooks.
    As for leg drive, how do I prevent my butt from coming off the bench as I push the floor away?
