Hips are too low. This is why the bar is a little forward.
Hi all
I have just started a HLM programme after running out LP.
Today was my first DL heavy day at 5x160kg, I did 5x157.5 last monday then had a light day of BB rows followed by 3x5x120 on friday.
Sorry for the vid being in portrait mode but I'd recorded before reading the forum rules.
During the third rep I felt my form breaking down more than I was willing to allow and felt my back was under a lot of strain. These are the heaviest DL reps I have done and I am not sure whether the strain I was feeling is just what happens when it gets this heavy or if I was correct to err on the side of caution and cut the set short.
On reviewing the video here's what I notice:
Hips dropping slightly before the pull
Bar rolling forward on reps 2 and 3
I would appreciate your thoughts on these please.

Thanks Rip.
Reckon I should deload next heavy day to nail the hip position or see how medium day goes then take it from there?
I realise this may be beyond the scope of the technique forum.

Here’s a set at 130kg trying keep the hips up. It’s tricky without anyone else in the gym to shout at you but such is life.
The hips lowering are a result of rocking back before the pull in order to get my weight over midfoot, is it not?
Much better.
