    Default Help with my Deadlift

    Hello!

This is a set of deadlifts at 365x5 from Monday. I would appreciate some help.

I am 6’0” and 244 pounds. I ran through NLP in summer and fall. I began running out the Texas Method, and within a few weeks I sustained a series of back tweaks while pulling, culminating in what I think was an SI joint injury, likely caused by back rounding. I took a four week layoff and re-started LP for squats and pulls.

Things I am trying to work on:
    - Setting my back in extension before I pull
    - Taking the slack out of the bar
    - Catching my breath between reps and speeding up the set

Here’s the video; I recorded from the rear quarter to focus on what my back is doing.

Are you training at 12,000 feet?

I’m going to blame poor conditioning. I don’t know why I get so winded by deadlifts in particular - it’s not a problem with the other lifts.

Maybe the fact that a 25-second set takes you 2 minutes is part of the problem.

Point taken - thank you, Rip. On your advice I have decided to be less of a pussy and hurry my ass up and pull.

Here’s this morning’s 375x5, much faster this time:
