    Default Chin up technique

Any tips on how to keep my lower body from angling forward when I do my chin ups? I start out fine, then as the reps build I find my feet going more and more forward. I just can't keep my body vertical.

    Thanks.

Just promise you won't laugh too much. This is my fourth set after sets of 12, 8, and 5.

Why do you think it should be vertical?

What would happen if you added weight between your feet vs hanging from your waist vs in a backpack?

The only thing wrong with these is that you pussed out on the last rep.

In my defense, I had already done my usual three sets when I remembered I wanted to take a video so I just threw up a few more reps. Your observation will be remembered going forward, though, and I'll work on not being a puss. Thanks for taking a look.

I think it's all the pictures (such as Figure 7-36 in the blue book) and videos I've seen that seem to show people more or less vertical. It just seemed inefficient to have my lower body out in front of me.

I'm assuming the location of the added weight would change my center of mass and affect how my body hangs. The backpack would probably move the COM furthest away from the bar and cause the most angle to my body.

Look at the video, and notice that the amount of your body's mass in front of and behind the bar are roughly the same. You're fine. Your abs are just working.

That they are, yes. I certainly feel them after a longer set. Thanks again for the input.
