My name is Joel and I am 6'5", 215. I am 2 months into my training and I have some some pain in my glutes/low back when I bend over. It feels similar to sciatica pain but I only feel it when I bend at the hips.
I am wondering if it is form related and would appreciate some feedback.

Squat started at 95 and worked to 195 but backed off due to pain.
Video is a set of 5 at 155.

Deadlift started at 95 and worked up to 215.
Video is a set of 5 at 205.

Sorry for the portrait video, room is too small for landscape.

    Hey Joel,

Please read the sticky. You need to be wearing shoes when you squat.

It sounds like you tweaked your back, a very common occurrence in the weight room

The Squats look fine. You need to order weightlifting shoes and a belt.

Your anthropometry puts you at a slight mechanical disadvantage with the deadlift but I think a few adjustments will help:

    1) Narrow your stance a bit and point your toes out a bit more. Shove your knees out a little more at the bottom. This should allow you to set your back a little better and get your shoulders above your hips. Also squeeze your chest up extra hard. Try to show your nipples to the wall in front of you

Thanks for the input Ryan! I’ll get some shoes and a belt.

Is that a carpet? If it's something that's squishy and soft at all, replace with something hard and solid.
