Form Check - Squat lbs 320, 3rd set of 5

    September 3, 2021 - YouTube

I’ve been having some trouble breaking past a plateau at this weight.

    5’6”
    25 years old
    183 lbs

Bought the Starting strength belt and it’s in the making.

    Thanks

Certain things are more obvious in some reps than others, but generally speaking you need to focus on leaning over right at the start of your descent, make sure you don't go too deep (aim for just below parallel, keeping your butt back in the bottom), and stay in your hips on the way up. I can't exactly see bar placement from this angle, so as a reminder, make sure it is below the spine of your scapulae.

320 is quite good for a high bar squat with a mask on. I never high bar squat more than 315.

@Hayden - Thanks coach - had to film a little low because the angle of the pins covered the knee angle if I didn’t. I can confirm the bar is low on my spine. So you’re meaning I basically need to get horizontal more quickly than I am?

    Hi Geo,

I'm just an aspiring SSC so you can take or leave this but:

Yes. That's what he's referring to. Get leaned over immediately and get your ass / hips moving back behind you as you set your knee position.
