    Default Form Check: Deadlift

    Hi everyone,

I got so much out of the feedback I received on my squat form check that I'm hoping it's alright for me to come back for one on my deadlift. I hurt myself doing 125 lbs last month, so I've really focused on understanding and implementing all the steps from Starting Strength, but I'd love to have a trained eye tell me where I can improve. Here's my latest PR of 145 lbs from this morning:

    Thanks again!

Get your chest up tighter at the bottom, but also get your butt up higher and back. You're starting with too vertical a back with your shoulders too far in front of the bar.

Finish taller with your chest picked up more - think about showing off your chest.

Thanks so much for the feedback, Andrew; I'll focus on keeping hips high and back on my next workout. Love all your Starting Strength videos, by the way!

Hey Andrew (or anyone else reading),

I've uploaded a new video where I've tried to keep my butt back and higher with my back less vertical while really trying to finish taller (remembered midway through the 2nd rep, as you can see :-p). Can I get another check on if this is closer to what you like to see in your clients? Thanks again for taking the time, I really appreciate it.

    Looks like an actual deadlift.

These look pretty good man. Looks like you accidentally did a sixth rep though.

Make sure you're looking at one point on the ground the entire lift.
