    Default Deadlift Form Advice

I know the advice is generally straighter back and lower hips. The issue is that I have a long torso. For reference, 6'1 but only 32" inseam for pants. If I get into position low enough to reach the bar with a straight back and lower hips, my knees are over my toes and the bar won't clear my shins.

Regarding the lack of belt. My lifting was born from a desire for improved sports performance. I figured that I don't have the benefit of a belt during sports so I shouldn't make a habit of relying on it when lifting.

    First, Required Reading Before Posting.

Second, and I'm not a coach, but you really need to spend more time on this site and reading the blue book to learn how to correctly perform a deadlift, as your technique does not follow the SS model. Too many things to correct in a simple post.

Third, also read this: The Belt and the Deadlift to learn how and why you should be wearing a belt.

Do not make the mistake of confusing sport performance with strength training. Only one benefits the other. You can find multiple articles or podcasts where this was discussed if you have an interest in sports while doing SS
