Because I have failed as a father, he’s doing a damn bodybuilding program ! and training for his first comp. I am happy though that all the main SS lifts are in his program and he’s adding weight each session to those so I try and coach him on those. I’ll film his next proper DL, he does struggle a bit with holding back extension.

Also, notice how the bar slides forward every rep. He sets up with the bar too close, though this might be because of the plate. Have him separate steps four and five, wait for the click. He can pull this weight wrong easily because it is light, a heavy enough deadlift will not leave the floor this way.

It's also quite strange to see the bar being held so loosely in his fingertips.

Is he doing deficit deadlifts in his competition?

Thanks fellas, I’ll need to reinforce the 5 steps. I may have coached him to hold the bar lower in his hands as it will naturally go there as the weight gets heavy but i do see now the grip does look a bit too loose.

Standing on the plate is not helping his lumbar flexion. But he's a bodybuilder, so it doesn't matter.
